Connect 1:1 with a student or younger alumni to provide advice and guidance, and create an on-going relationship of learning, dialogue and growth.

Time Commitment: 2 hours every 1-2 months over 8 month period

Judge for Case Competitions & Presentation Pitches

Sit on a judging panel to assess and provide feedback to student teams competing in case competitions and/or entrepreneurship pitch competitions.

Time Commitment: 3 to 7 hours

Classroom InvolvementAlumni can impact the academic development of students in a multitude of ways: co-writing a company case study, giving a guest lecture, offering your company to be used as a “live client” for student projects, being a mentor for capstone projects. 

Time Commitment: Can vary from 2 hours, to 1 hour every 2 weeks

Speaking Engagement

Share your stories and words of advice to student or alumni audiences by giving a keynote presentation, workshop or participating on a panel. Speaking opportunities exist through student run conference and club events, orientation programs, the Business Career Centre and UBC Sauder’s Alumni Engagement Office. 

Time Commitment: 2 to 3 hours

Networking Events

Aid in the professional development of students and help guide their journey towards finding meaningful work by attending a networking event and connecting with them in person. 

Time Commitment: 2 to 3 hours

Coach for Case Competitions

Each year, UBC Sauder sends teams of students across Canada and around the world to compete in case competitions. Alumni coaches play an integral in their success by attending case practices throughout the year to provide feedback, resources and knowledge. 

Time Commitment: 3 hours per week over 4 months

Recruitment & Admissions

Be an advocate and representative of the impact of the UBC Sauder educational experience as an alumni speaker or panelist at UBC Recruitment events to prospective students. Share stories from your degree and insights on how your UBC Sauder experience helped to shape your personal and professional development. 

Time Commitment: 2 – 3 hours

Career Development

Help students prepare to enter the workplace through: volunteering for mock interviews or salary negotiation workshops, hosting company info sessions/tours and recruiting UBC Sauder talent. Visit the Business Career Centre website for more info.

Time Commitment: Can vary from 1 to 3 hours.

Connect Directly with Students or Alumni

Are you willing to be contacted directly by students/alumni for 1:1 informational interviews? This is an ad hoc volunteer engagement, as students or alumni look to learning more about a specific industry, company, city or career that you have experience in.

Time Commitment: 1 – 2 hour.

Class Reunion Volunteer

Bring together your classmates to re-connect and reminisce by helping to organize a Class Reunion, with the help and support of UBC Sauder’s Alumni Engagement Office. For more info, email
